Summer 2013 - More Bonnets!

 

 I continue to be obsessed with Made By Rae's Peek-a-Boo Bonnet Pattern! I made a few more bonnets for friends' kids last summer. Just love how they all turn out! 

   

 

Halloween Costume in April...

APPARENTLY, I never posted on this blog about Edrie's Halloween Costume and I LOVE how it turned out and involved way too much lost sleep not to have it on the craft blog... SO without further adieu...

Last year Edrie was the hungry caterpillar and this year she was an owl. Her costume was heavily inspired by pinterest and my mom, once again, indulged me in my over-ambitious craft adventures. She did half of the felt cutting and all of the wing sewing! The knit hat was super easy and very much finished halloween morning. 

We even trained her to say 'hoot hoot' I almost died from the cuteness!

Oh, How I Love Bonnets...

I made another bonnet... LOVE! This is the best pattern EVER! I just love how simple it is to pull together and how nice it turns out! I already want to try all of Made By Rae's patterns, but making this always confirms it for me! 

This was a gift for a sweet one-year-old, but I bought enough fabric to make a matching one for Edrie. 

Hopefully I'll get to it before summer arrives!

Quin's Quilt

I saw this quilt on pinterest and fell in love. I liked the simplicity and decided to make a version to celebrate a dear friend's new baby girl.  Forgive these pictures - we went to Missouri to meet Baby Quin in early December and I was literally binding the quilt at their house... My goal was to finish it by her October due date..oops! I hadn't taken pictures of it and realized it as we were heading out to the airport on the way home. Edrie thought it was her play mat...

I used the colors of Quin's Nursery - two shades of pink and basic white for the 'gingham' front and did a one piece back with a little embroidery.

The 'welcome' is in a fun font and I like how it kind of hides in the busy dot fabric of the back. 

I quilted it simply about 1/4 inch from the ditch in both directions. We hadn't washed it when I took these pictures, but Lainey said it crinkled up nicely. Sweet darling baby girl - I hope she enjoys this quilt for a long time. We can't wait to see her (and her parents) again!! 

Hooded Towel

A friend of ours just welcomed a new baby and I wanted to bring a little gift over. I love the hooded towel that Lindsey made us so I used this tutorial to make one. It was rather difficult to sew with the terry cloth, but it turned out pretty cute! 

Knit Hoodie

I started this sweater when Edrie was two months old. I knew myself well enough to make a 12 month size knowing I am a slow knitter, especially with a newborn. I finished it when she was 13 months and crossed my fingers it would fit. The pattern is known for running a bit small so I was nervous! I blocked the heck out of it and it fits great! She still wears it, though the sleeves are starting to get short. It should be ready to go for baby number two (someday)!

Fleece Booties

 

Jenni and I started these booties a million years ago and I finally finished them in time to give to Baby Bratt (August)...I hope they are cozy and stay on well this winter baby Q!

Trying to get back in the habit of taking pictures of crafts and posting... These are now my go-to burp rags...so cute and EASY! 

Peek-a-Boo Bonnets

Hey Look! I made something and I'm posting! Such a miracle! I'm obsessed with the functionality, and the beauty of these!

They look hard, right? THEY ARE SOO EASY! If the cutting is done then I can whip one up in an hour or so!

Mod Burp Cloths

I made these to celebrate some friends who will be parents soon! I used fabric leftover from my nursery and sewed it onto some pre-fold cloth diapers...so satisfying!

i used this trick of cutting a piece of cardboard to help iron your edges under evenly...worked like a charm! i was kind of obsessed with how easy and cute these turned out. Kind of want to make a million more!

Pieced Jersey Onesie Dresses

These dresses were a pinterest find and I'm kind of obsessed. I was so excited to have a baby girl, but I am not all about all the frilly pink clothes. These dresses are great because they are girly without being frilly. And i can use my favorite baby legs under them so changing diapers is a breeze! 

I may or may not have bought a ridiculous number of tshirts at salavation army to use for this project. The top two pictured are for Edrie, the bottom one is for a friend's baby, and my mom made Edrie two more! Makes me happy that she will have lots of everyday type dresses to wear!

Sock Monkeys!

Quite some time ago, my mom and I decided we should make sock monkeys. I am really happy with how they turned out, but I won't be making any more...all the hand sewing involved made me crabby. My mom made the one on the left for Edrie and I made the one on the right for a friend who just had a baby girl!

Block Ornaments

 

A few of my friends hosted a craft day last month and we made these awesome photo block ornaments. You can find the tutorial here. I LOOVE how these turned out. I made mine for two babies who were born this year.

Salt Dough Ornaments

This was another project Jenni and I tried to complete with the kids underfoot. It went pretty well! I love how they turned out! Jenni just made a quick batch of salt dough, we rolled it out and stuck the kids' hands/feet in. Then we made a hole for the ribbon. I baked them for about a billion hours at 200 degrees.

   

I sprayed them with Shellac and put a little glitter to fancy them up! Excited to have these to compare to next year!

reindeer onesie WAY cuter on baby!

Love a baby in mama-made things! Here is that Reindeer Onesie looking oh-so-cute on Miss Edrie.

I'm mildly obsessed with this hair clip...I want to make a hundred more. Jenni and I got together to make hair accessories a bit ago - I'll have to take pictures of the other ones I made. I used this tutorial for the bow. I don't think Edrie really appreciates them, but I'm in LOVE!

Reindeer Onesie

 

  

Jenni and I got together last week to attempt crafting with three little ones underfoot and we were successful! Edrie was strapped into the moby, Jenni's girls watched a movie and we embarked! We didn't completely finish, but we got a good start on it and had fun! 

I'm not so good with the machine applique so I just hand stitched this onto the onesie. I LOVE how it turned out. The original plan was for this to be the top to some christmas pajamas, but really I don't think my three month old cares about christmas pjs so she will probably be wearing this lots and lots the next few weeks!
