<div style="text-align: center;">
I <a href="http://creativelysatisfied.blogspot.com/2013/04/oh-how-i-love-bonnets.html">continue</a> to be obsessed with <a href="http://www.made-by-rae.com/2011/04/peekaboo-bonnet-sewing-pattern-pdf/">Made By Rae's Peek-a-Boo Bonnet Pattern</a>! I made a few more bonnets for friends' kids last summer. Just love how they all turn out! </div>

I couldnt resist <a href="http://rosylittlethings.typepad.com/">Alicia Paulson</a>'s Maggie Rabbit kit last year. And I am SO EXCITED for her to release more. This was a great project to work on while playing with E and I just love how sweet they turn out. I feel like they are keepsake toys. E didn't even care for it much - so its now in my craft area where I can enjoy it.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm gonna try to blog again... well see how I do. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I made this little dress for E last year and she's worn it on and off. Its in the regular rotation lately, but my craftmanship is starting to show in some falling off hems... oops! I am not in love with it, but its one of the most complicated garments I've sewn so not bad?! The pattern was bought at the fabric store and I can't remember what it was... and it wasn't well written so you dont' want to know anyway ;)<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8525002585/" title="jan/feb 2013 by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="jan/feb 2013" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8233/8525002585_a445f7190e.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've been hoarding these buttons for just the right thing - something not too baby-ish, but that needed a little bit of kid thrown in. I think they are perfect on this vest. This <a href="http://www.pickles.no/plain-vest/">pattern</a> is really poorly written, but its free and I found an awesome <a href="http://www.thedietdiary.com/knittingfiend/tools/EvenlySpace.html">website</a> to help you with all the decreases. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She is constantly in motion... hard to get good pictures these days! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I just LOVE this little vest. I just love her in handknits - makes me happy and I think they are cute. I love the neutral color and all the garter stitch. I just LOVE it. Too bad she figured me out and every time I now try to get it on her it is a battle and so... its hardly worn =( </div>

APPARENTLY, I never posted on this blog about Edrie's Halloween Costume and I LOVE how it turned out and involved way too much lost sleep not to have it on the craft blog... SO without further adieu...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8329264952/" title="halloween by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="halloween" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8495/8329264952_69d93c23ab.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://grantandnicole.blogspot.com/2011/11/halloween.html">Last year</a> Edrie was the hungry caterpillar and this year she was an owl. Her costume was heavily <a href="http://pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=owl+costume">inspired</a> by pinterest and my mom, once again, indulged me in my over-ambitious craft adventures. She did half of the felt cutting and all of the wing sewing! The <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/nsimmons/hoot-toque">knit hat</a> was super easy and very much finished halloween morning. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8524982859/" title="jan/feb 2013 by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="jan/feb 2013" height="376" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8368/8524982859_e67529e0cb.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I made <a href="http://creativelysatisfied.blogspot.com/2012/09/peek-boo-bonnets.html">another</a> <a href="http://www.made-by-rae.com/2011/04/peekaboo-bonnet-sewing-pattern-pdf/">bonnet</a>... LOVE! This is the best <a href="http://www.made-by-rae.com/2011/04/peekaboo-bonnet-sewing-pattern-pdf/">pattern</a> EVER! I just love how simple it is to pull together and how nice it turns out! I already want to try all of Made By Rae's patterns, but making this always confirms it for me! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was a gift for a sweet one-year-old, but I bought enough fabric to make a matching one for Edrie. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8526091756/" title="jan/feb 2013 by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="jan/feb 2013" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8379/8526091756_695a341bd7.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hopefully I'll get to it before summer arrives! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also knit a little newborn bonnet for friends who recently welcomed their first girl! <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/nsimmons/pixie-hood">Rav link</a></div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8329296298/" title="quin's quilt by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="quin's quilt" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8364/8329296298_ce3697759b.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I saw<a href="http://craftyblossom.blogspot.com/2012/09/gingham-patchwork-quilt.html"> this quilt</a> on pinterest and fell in love. I liked the simplicity and decided to make a version to celebrate a dear friend's new baby girl. Forgive these pictures - we went to Missouri to meet Baby Quin in early December and I was literally binding the quilt at their house... My goal was to finish it by her October due date..oops! I hadn't taken pictures of it and realized it as we were heading out to the airport on the way home. Edrie thought it was her play mat...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8328236837/" title="quin's quilt by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="quin's quilt" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8364/8328236837_1a6f9d9a7d.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8329297394/" title="quin's quilt by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="quin's quilt" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8213/8329297394_70264cd7ef.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used the colors of Quin's Nursery - two shades of pink and basic white for the 'gingham' front and did a one piece back with a little embroidery.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8329298462/" title="quin's quilt by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"></a>
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8329298462/" title="quin's quilt by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="quin's quilt" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8364/8329298462_3eb1ae47aa.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8329293208/" title="quin's quilt by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="quin's quilt" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8499/8329293208_259ec57d68.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The 'welcome' is in a fun font and I like how it kind of hides in the busy dot fabric of the back. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8328235831/" title="quin's quilt by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="quin's quilt" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8355/8328235831_9f32330918.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I quilted it simply about 1/4 inch from the ditch in both directions. We hadn't washed it when I took these pictures, but Lainey said it crinkled up nicely. Sweet darling baby girl - I hope she enjoys this quilt for a long time. We can't wait to see her (and her parents) again!! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A friend of ours just welcomed a new baby and I wanted to bring a little gift over. I love the hooded towel that Lindsey made us so I used <a href="http://thecottagehome.blogspot.com/2010/10/embellished-hooded-towel-tutorial.html">this tutorial</a> to make one. It was rather difficult to sew with the terry cloth, but it turned out pretty cute! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started this sweater when Edrie was two months old. I knew myself well enough to make a 12 month size knowing I am a slow knitter, especially with a newborn. I finished it when she was 13 months and crossed my fingers it would fit. The pattern is known for running a bit small so I was nervous! I blocked the heck out of it and it fits great! She still wears it, though the sleeves are starting to get short. It should be ready to go for baby number two (someday)!</div>

Mama went a little (read: WAY) overboard for <a href="http://creativelysatisfied.blogspot.com/2011/09/its-girl.html">baby girl's</a> <a href="http://grantandnicole.blogspot.com/2013/01/edries-first-birthday-party-september.html">first birthday</a>. We had about 70 people in our newly overhauled backyard. It was a gorgeous, sunny day. The 'theme' was soft, vintage, mason jars, pinks, greens, blues. I LOVE how it all came together.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been hoarding a few vintage sheets for years. I wanted to make a beach blanket out of them, but it never happened. My mom helped me cut and sew about a million yards of bunting out of them...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8357122074/" title="DSC_0048 by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0048" height="332" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8362/8357122074_c2f2ee7f78.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8356057145/" title="DSC_0051 by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0051" height="500" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8333/8356057145_c7227ced23.jpg" width="332" /></a>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My mom made the cute party hats, and my step-dad made me the chicken-wire frames. I hung pictures from Edrie's first year on them with clothespins.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8356058951/" title="DSC_0070 by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0070" height="332" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8363/8356058951_a4d47a4829.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We had a keg of good beer and had people serve themselves into mason jars. We also had lemonade and appetizers. I LOOOVE that giant balloon - took some serious convincing to get it inflated, but so happy it worked!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8356057275/" title="DSC_0120 by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0120" height="400" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8513/8356057275_6da64705bc.jpg" width="265" /></a>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I made Edrie's dress out of an old t-shirt and used one of the sheets to applique a 1 on it. I used Made's <a href="http://www.danamadeit.com/warhol-dress-free">Warhol Dress pattern</a> (FREE!!) I love how easy this was and how great it turned out. I'd like to make her a few more for next summer. It was super comfy and she is still wearing it over long sleeves and leggings as a tunic.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8357121816/" title="DSC_0081 by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0081" height="332" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8511/8357121816_aa9d9722f9.jpg" width="500" /></a>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
LOOVE how this crown turned out. I used felt I had on hand from making hair clips and I did a random felt flower search on flickr and found that flower - just love it! It is a little big, but I wanted it to fit her for a long time. THe back is elastic covered in the same vintage sheet I used for her dress applique. Used the pattern in <a href="http://www.soulemama.com/">soulemama's</a> first book. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I took a few new pictures of it with my fancy new camera... do you love how much she looks like a toddler in the picture below?? snotty nose, crazy hair, and fake smile. LOVE! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For one of her gifts and another reason I didn't sleep at all the week of her birthday was this fabric book. I just loved the idea of a soft book with pictures of the people who love her in it...I didn't anticipate how long it would take me though! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8357238492/" title="IMG_0060 by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_0060" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8359/8357238492_5e4c0b9574.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Also an <a href="http://www.soulemama.com/soulemama/2012/05/her-birthday-book.html">idea of Amanda Soule</a> - It really is very simple but working with the fabric sheets and the printer was frustrating and it frayed HORRIBLY so I had to use fraycheck on everything. I love how it turned out though! I used a few other sheets I had for hte background, some quilt batting I had and each of her grandparents, parents, olive and uncles had a page to write something special with pictures of them together. She is just now starting to look at it more. I hope it is something she can look back on fondly. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8357241754/" title="IMG_0061 by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_0061" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8223/8357241754_ed887c9ce6.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8357245900/" title="IMG_0064 by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_0064" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8047/8357245900_6108a3f23f.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8356058039/" title="DSC_0243 by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0243" height="332" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8189/8356058039_47168f3468.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another little crafty thing I did was a DIY Photo Booth - Just hung up a sheet, put out props and a camera. The pictures are great! I still need to print them and put them in a book that I had out for people to sign. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/8356058663/" title="DSC_0040 by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0040" height="332" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8506/8356058663_03aa2febe5.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Lastly, I had a little table out for the book I made documenting our pregnancy with Edrie and <a href="http://www.craftquickies.com/banana-bread-in-a-jar/">banana bread baked in mason jars</a>. I put little thank you tags on them and used part of the sheets to decorate the tops. I also made E's cake, <a href="http://www.ourbestbites.com/2011/01/sweetie-pie-pops-plus-hand-pies-pie-jars-and-printables/">pie pops</a>, and cupcakes, my mom supplied flowers from her yard...it was quite the party! SO much fuN! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
I made these to celebrate some friends who will be parents soon! I used fabric leftover from my <a href="http://grantandnicole.blogspot.com/2011/08/nursery-reveal.html">nursery</a> and sewed it onto some pre-fold cloth diapers...so satisfying!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

i used <a href="http://www.diaryofaquilter.com/2010/01/perhaps-easiest-burp-cloth-tutorial.html">this trick</a> of cutting a piece of cardboard to help iron your edges under evenly...worked like a charm! i was kind of obsessed with how easy and cute these turned out. <a href="http://kojodesigns.blogspot.com/2011/02/kojotutorial-pieced-jersey-matched-set.html">These dresses</a> were a pinterest find and I'm kind of obsessed. I was so excited to have a baby girl, but I am not all about all the frilly pink clothes. These dresses are great because they are girly without being frilly. And i can use my favorite<a href="http://creativelysatisfied.blogspot.com/2011/06/baby-legs-from-socksim-addicted.html"> baby legs</a> under them so changing diapers is a breeze! <br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I may or may not have bought a ridiculous number of tshirts at salavation army to use for this project. The top two pictured are for Edrie, the bottom one is for a friend's baby, and my mom made Edrie two more! Makes me happy that she will have lots of everyday type dresses to wear! </div>nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14686853464317087883noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6524835744449509731.post-81914121294167212912012-02-20T21:16:00.001-08:002012-02-20T21:16:30.842-08:00Sock Monkeys!<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Quite some time ago, my mom and I decided we should make sock monkeys. I am really happy with how they turned out, but I won't be making any more...all the hand sewing involved made me crabby. My mom made the one on the left for Edrie and I made the one on the right for a friend who just had a baby girl! </div>

I have been really into quick, easy projects these days. These hair clips were just the ticket. Of course, they were completed LONG ago and I'm just now blogging them! I have a baby and we've moved 4 times in the last year, so I will use those as my excuses for quite some time..</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsimmons/6688648415/" title="IMG_5807 by {nicolesimmons}, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5807" height="375" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7001/6688648415_7b550e8e6c.jpg" width="500" /></a>

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used tutorials and templates from pinterest... see <a href="http://pinterest.com/nykol/diy-edrie/">here</a>. </div>nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14686853464317087883noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6524835744449509731.post-54606499580277850842012-01-13T00:32:00.001-08:002012-01-13T00:32:53.543-08:00Card Books<div style="text-align: center;">

Saw <a href="http://eighteen25.blogspot.com/2011/12/christmas-card-books.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Eighteen25+%28eighteen25%29&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher">this idea</a> on pinterest and loved it! I used the template from the blog to cut out the shape from cute scrapbook paper. Then I used stickers to spruce them up! This top one is full of all the cards we got throughout our pregnancy and after Edrie was born. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
These two are for Christmas cards. I love the idea of bringing them out every year to look through! I made one for all of our 2011 cards and then another that I'll fill with just our family cards! This was a great 20 minute project to start and finish after the baby went to bed. Made me feel very accomplished! Looking for more quick, satisfying projects!</div>nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14686853464317087883noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6524835744449509731.post-16084811691023005612012-01-13T00:20:00.004-08:002012-01-13T00:20:39.139-08:00Tiny Mitts<div style="text-align: center;">

A few of my friends hosted a craft day last month and we made these awesome photo block ornaments. You can find the tutorial <a href="http://wmcraftgoodies.blogspot.com/2010/11/day-29-photo-memory-block-ornament.html">here</a>. I LOOVE how these turned out. I made mine for two babies who were born this year.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was another project Jenni and I tried to complete with the kids underfoot. It went pretty well! I love how they turned out! Jenni just made a quick batch of salt dough, we rolled it out and stuck the kids' hands/feet in. Then we made a hole for the ribbon. I baked them for about a billion hours at 200 degrees. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://simplebeans.blogspot.com/">Jenni</a> and I got together last week to attempt crafting with three little ones underfoot and we were successful! Edrie was strapped into the moby, Jenni's girls watched a movie and we embarked! We didn't completely finish, but we got a good start on it and had fun! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I'm not so good with the machine applique so I just hand stitched <a href="http://noodlesandmilk.blogspot.com/2010/11/too-cute-reindeer-shirt-tutorial.html">this</a> onto the onesie. I LOVE how it turned out. The original plan was for this to be the top to some christmas pajamas, but really I don't think my three month old cares about christmas pjs so she will probably be wearing this lots and lots the next few weeks! </div>nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14686853464317087883noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6524835744449509731.post-77983388030030781812011-11-10T18:20:00.001-08:002011-11-10T18:27:13.772-08:00Hungry Caterpillar<div style="text-align: center;">
